Susana Cortez
Since joining Innovayt following more than a decade of academic research, as an Innovation Consultant, Susana has supported clients in developing competitive proposals for scientific research, technological development, and demonstration projects, contributing to securing funding through EU and national programmes. Her expertise spans a broad range of funding schemes, including Horizon Europe MSCA (Doctoral Networks), EIC Transition and Accelerator, EUREKA programmes, and the EU Innovation Fund, as well as Danish programmes such as Innobooster, MUDP, and Grand Solutions.
Susana holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology – Bioprocesses Engineering from the University of Minho (Portugal), where she also completed her degree in Biological Engineering. Her doctoral research focused on the biological treatment of landfill leachates. She later carried out postdoctoral research at the University of Minho (Portugal) and North Carolina State University (USA), managing projects related to nitrification and denitrification. Over the course of her research career, Susana authored more than 10 peer-reviewed articles and reports. She also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Minho (Portugal), teaching courses in the Master’s programmes in Biological Engineering.
