Soraia Mendes

As an Innovation Consultant, Soraia has been involved in the preparation of an EIC Accelerator project in the Health field, supporting clients in developing competitive proposals. Her role at Innovayt allows her to apply her scientific expertise while enhancing her consulting skills in a collaborative environment that fosters growth and knowledge sharing across the team.

Soraia holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and a Master’s in Health and Science Management from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). She also earned a BSc in Genetics and Biotechnology and an MSc in Technologic, Comparative, and Molecular Genetics from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Portugal). Her doctoral research focused on the structural and biochemical characterization of proteases and protease inhibitors of biomedical interest, which she expanded upon through postdoctoral research on blood-coagulation implicated proteases. Over the course of her academic career, Soraia has (co-)authored 8 peer-reviewed publications, trained students, participated in science outreach initiatives, and contributed to the development of intellectual property.
