Sofia Lopes
Throughout her time in Innovayt, Sofia has built a robust track record in securing funding through Horizon Europe and national programs in Denmark and Norway. Currently as a Senior Consultant, she has extensive experience with various EU and national funding programs, including the EIC Accelerator, EIC Pathfinder, MSCA, Eurostars, and initiatives by the Danish Innovation Fund. She also co-manages Innovayt’s Eurostars program coordination, contributing significantly to impactful R&D and innovation initiatives. Sofia’s expertise lies at the intersection of science and business, supporting clients in developing competitive funding proposals across diverse fields, particularly in health (pharmaceuticals, oncology, neuroscience) and renewable energy.
Sofia holds a PhD in Neurosciences, an MSc in Health Sciences and a BSc in Biology, all from the School of Medicine, University of Minho (Portugal). With over 6 years of research experience, she has contributed to numerous R&D projects focused on Neurosciences, particularly the effects of chronic stress on Depression and Alzheimer’s disease. Her PhD work investigated potential links between these disorders, offering insights into the mechanisms underlying their development. In 2017, Sofia was awarded the Janssen Innovation Award. She has authored several peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as Aging Cell and PNAS, and has presented her work at international conferences. To complement her scientific expertise, Sofia completed the Credentials of Readiness program from Harvard Business School Online, gaining foundational knowledge in financial accounting, economics for managers, and business analytics.
