Joana Magalhães
As an Innovation Consultant, Joana supports clients in preparing and developing competitive proposals for R&D, technology development, and demonstration programs. She has experience with various EU funding mechanisms, including Horizon Europe (MSCA Doctoral Networks, EIC Transition, and EIC Accelerator), EUREKA (Eurostars), and Danish national programs such as Innobooster and GUDP. Her work spans across diverse fields including medical devices, biosolutions, new therapies, immunology, and digital twins.
Joana holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology Applied to Health Sciences (BiotechHealth) from ICBAS, University of Porto (Portugal). During her PhD, she conducted research at i3S (Portugal), King’s College London (UK), and the Adolphe Merkle Institute (Switzerland), gaining expertise in scientific writing, communication, intellectual property, and healthcare technology transfer. Following her doctoral studies, Joana worked as a Contracted Postdoctoral Researcher at LAQV-REQUIMTE, where she focused on the development of nanomedicines and nanoparticle-based products for infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and SARS-CoV-2.
