Daniel Gomes

Daniel, currently as a Senior Consultant, brings extensive expertise to the preparation and coordination of funding applications across various international and national programs. His experience spans EU funding schemes such as the EU Innovation Fund, EU IF H2 Auctions, Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, Horizon Europe EIC-Accelerator, MSCA Doctoral Networks, and PCI/PMIs, alongside national funding opportunities like Norwegian IPN and Danish programs (Innobooster, EUDP, Danish CCS Tender). Recently, Daniel has focused particularly on energy-related initiatives, specializing in PtX, Energy Storage, and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technologies.

Daniel holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering and an MSc in Biological Engineering, both from the University of Minho (Portugal). His doctoral research specialized in enzyme recycling schemes, followed by postdoctoral work on eco-friendly technologies for valorizing lignocellulosic materials (LCMS). Daniel has extensive research experience in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy, particularly in Yeast Physiology, Fermentation Processes, Biorefineries, Systems Biology, and Bioprocess Simulation and Techno-Economic Analyses (TEAs). He co-authored 18 scientific articles and two book chapters. Additionally, Daniel co-supervised two PhD students, participated actively in international conferences with over 20 presentations, supervised numerous simulation and economic analysis projects, and served as a referee for prestigious journals, including Applied Energy, Biotechnology for Biofuels, and Bioresource Technology.
