Carlos Costa

Carlos, currently COO and Partner, throughout his tenure, has played a crucial role in assisting clients in securing funding for their R&D&I projects, as he has contributed to developing, mentoring, and reviewing project proposals across major EU funding instruments, including Horizon Europe (MSCA programmes, EIC Pathfinder, Transition and Accelerator, collaborative programmes, ERC), as well as national programmes in Denmark and Norway. Additionally, he has conducted training workshops focused on innovation-driven funding programs and supported numerous applicants in their pitch preparations for the final selection round of the EIC Accelerator/SME Instrument programme.

Carlos holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from University of Minho (Portugal), specializing in environmental technologies and process control. Prior to Innovayt, he accumulated 11 years of research experience, including 7 years as a postdoctoral researcher and Principal Investigator of an R&D project funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation. Carlos also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Minho (Portugal), teaching courses within the Master’s programmes in Biological Engineering and Environmental Management. His academic record includes more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 2 co-authored book chapters, and multiple international conference presentations. Carlos further complements his expertise with 2 years of professional experience as an Environmental Consultant.
