Bruno Fernandes

Bruno, currently Chief Consultant, plays a critical role in guiding clients to develop competitive proposals for scientific research and technological development projects. He possesses extensive expertise across a wide range of EU funding programmes, including EIC (Accelerator, Transition, Pathfinder), MSCA (Doctoral Networks, Postdoctoral Fellowships), ERC, EUROSTARS, as well as RIAs, IAs, and other collaborative funding schemes. Additionally, Bruno manages Innovayt’s efforts within the EIC Accelerator programme and has trained numerous SMEs invited for interviews under the SME Instrument/EIC Accelerator.

Bruno holds a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering, specializing in bioreactor development for cultivating microalgae and cyanobacteria, and an MSc in Biological Engineering, both from the University of Minho (Portugal). Following his PhD, he pursued over 3 years of post-doctoral research focusing on bioreactor design and bioprocess development, specifically targeting photosynthetic microorganisms. Bruno also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Minho (Portugal), teaching courses in the Master’s programme in Biological Engineering. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles, five book chapters, and presented his research at more than 35 international conferences.
