Innovayt partners with Climate Launchpad Portugal 2022
Climate Launchpad is the world’s largest clean tech competition, looking for business ideas that helps fight climate change. This involves ideas related to renewable and clean energy, blue or circular economy, sustainable transition in food systems, urban mobility, and much more. It is an international programme, initiated by EIT Climate-KIC (the EU’s main initiative in climate-related innovation), but the Portuguese edition is organised by UPTEC, LIPOR, Smart Waste Portugal, and the Portuguese Plastic Pact. Innovayt is partnering up with this year’s Climate Launchpad Portugal, offering to design a funding strategy for one of the winners worth €1000. Luisa Marques, skilled Project Developer at Innovayt and circular economy enthusiast, will represent Innovayt in the jury.
In addition to having a funding strategy defined by Innovayt, the winners will have the opportunity to present their business idea to Faber’s ocean/climate investment fund; access training at Grosvenor in the areas of impact, sustainability, or investment opportunities; benefit from training at the Ordem dos Engenheiros – Região Norte worth €1000; and Patentree’s support in defining the intellectual property strategy. The three winners will represent Portugal in the regional Climate Launchpad final and enjoy free incubation at UPTEC for three months.
Throughout the programme, all participants will have the opportunity to take part in an online course and a three-day intensive bootcamp with a certified trainer from EIT Climate-KIC. The participants will also have access to pitch training and mentoring sessions with experts in environmental sustainability and circular economy, including professionals from the programme’s organising entities in Portugal.
Since the start of the competition in 2014, almost 12 000 business ideas from 55 countries around the world have been submitted to Climate Launchpad. The competition has been running in Portugal since 2016, where the programme has supported more than 60 teams and had three international winners – Paynext, Eco2blocks, and Mudatuga.
Deadline for applications to Climate Launchpad Portugal 2022 is June 6. The national final is July 27, the European final is in September, and the Global Grand Final is in November.
Update (2022-08-17): Congratulations to Beat the Butt, E-Gravity, and WindCredible, the three winning projects in the Climate Launchpad national final! Each project presented ideas and ways that help fight and address climate change; Beat the Butt strives to end cigarette butts in the environment, E-Gravity are of creating a new way to store energy, and WindCredible produces portable wind turbines with upcycled materials.
It was a pleasure and an inspiration to see so many good quality projects thriving for environmental impact in such a variety of fields from Circular Economy, Energy, Food Systems, and Mobility. Well done to all participants!
