Sara Tavares
Sara brought a strong background in ecology, genetics, and data analysis when joining Innovayt as Innovation Consultant. Her key responsibilities include supporting clients in developing data-driven proposals that align with EU funding requirements, especially within environmental and life sciences. This position enables Sara to leverage her intersectoral research background, spanning academia and government, to help clients achieve impactful project outcomes through strategic funding.
Prior to joining Innovayt, Sara accumulated over a decade of research experience across academia and government. Sara completed her PhD in Biology at the University of St. Andrews (UK), with a focus on marine biology, socioecology, and sociogenetics. Following her PhD, Sara held a Postdoctoral Fellowship with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO, Canada) and thereafter worked as Research Scientist with the Canadian government. Throughout her career, Sara has led numerous research projects across Europe and North America. She has also gained experience as a Tutor and Demonstrator, having taught undergraduate and master students at the University of St Andrews. In addition to her PhD, Sara holds a master’s degree in Marine Sciences as well as a bachelor’s degree in Aquatic Sciences from the University of Porto (ICBAS, Portugal).
