João Gomes

As an Innovation Consultant, João supports clients identifying relevant European funding opportunities, shaping compelling project narratives, and advising on project structure to maximise scientific excellence, innovation potential and societal impact. He draws on a strong mix of scientific and project-management experience to position teams for success in competitive funding calls.

João holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Minho (Portugal) and NOVA Medical School (Portugal), complemented by a Master’s in Biomedicine and a Bachelor’s in Applied Biology from the University of Minho. His academic work focused on immunology, autoimmunity and infectious diseases. Before joining Innovayt he led and secured funding for multiple independent research projects, authored several scientific publications and presented at national and international forums. He has also worked on Phase 3 clinical-trial collaborations with Roche in compliance with ICH-GCP standards, gaining valuable clinical and industry insight. João’s strengths include scientific communication, data analysis, grant writing and regulatory knowledge, supported by additional training in medical affairs, medical marketing and clinical-practice standards.
