Update on Innovayt x Climate Launchpad

The Global Final of Climate Launchpad, the world’s largest clean tech competition, is around the corner! During the last few weeks, Innovayt has continued to be involved in selecting winners at both regional final and global semi-final competitions. More detailed, Luísa Marques, skilled Innovation Consultant at Innovayt, has represented Innovayt in the jury at the European Regional Final on Urban Solutions and the Global Semi-Final on Sustainable Mobility. Both important topics to address in order to fight climate change.

Despite occupying only 3% of the Earth’s land and surface, cities are home to more than half of the world’s population. In Europe, three out of four people live in cities. Cities therefore play an important role in the transition towards sustainability.

The European Regional Final on Urban Solutions gathered various projects that materialise in an urban setting, showcasing projects in renewable energy communities, waste collection and sorting, nature-based architectural solutions, construction materials, air purification, tourism, and mobility. The projects presented were great demonstrations of deep tech application, bioeconomy or circular economy strategy, digitalisation, and community solutions.

In turn, the Global Semi-Final on Sustainable Mobility presented multiple high-quality projects over a transversal theme, but also one where regional difference is evident. This was the case of the two winners, ProtofabTT from Trinidad & Tobago and MeGoElectric from Ukraine, which were both great demonstrations of product-market-fit.

ProtofabTT presented hybrid batteries regenerating technology, which can extend the product life of imported HEV from Europe, while MeGoElectric intends to offer affordable modular small EV trucks for post-war recovery in Ukraine by applying several circular economy principles.

Climate Launchpad is an exciting demonstration of the global effort from citizens and entrepreneurs from around the globe to find solutions to address some of the biggest challenges of our lifetime, such as sustainability and climate change. I am particularly inspired by the quality and drive of the teams, which with different backgrounds and regional contexts, take the stage at this global competition.
