Powercon plans to revolutionize how energy is supplied in harbours

Danish SME Powercon A/S has, over the last few years, established itself as a leader in the wind energy sector, where it provides compact solutions for power frequency conversion from wind turbines on site.

Based on the success of their product MobilePC, Powercon has developed a revolutionizing OPS (Onshore Power Supply) solution that will contribute to enhanced energy efficiency and a lower carbon footprint. Today, the main source of energy for vessels and cruise ships that dock in harbour is auxiliary engines on board of the ship, running on marine gas oil, which needs extensive heating before usage due to its high viscosity.

Innovayt has assisted in writing a proposal from Powercon for the SME Instrument under the Horizon 2020 programme, which was approved for funding in late October 2015.
