Better Hospital Treatment with New Piezo Motor

A Danish consortium led by Noliac A/S has the ambition to develop the first high performance, non-magnetic motor built on piezo technology. Innovayt assisted the consortium with the preparation of the proposal that received a grant of approximately 10 million DKK from the Danish Advanced Technology Foundation.

The consortium  – Noliac A/S, DTU Mechanical Engineering and Siemens Clinical Products Division – and the PAD motor project aim to develop competitive engines to be used in MRI  and CT  equipment for treatment tables at hospitals as well as in medical infusion pumps. In both application areas, there is a clear need to introduce high performance motors, which reliably and without interference can operate in highly magnetic fields. The project will be implemented in 2012.
