End of SME Instrument Phase 1

The so-called Phase 1 of the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument has now been effectively terminated, with only the Phase 2 instrument (now called the EIC Accelerator) remaining for the rest of the Horizon 2020 programme, and to be continued in the new Horizon Europe programme running from 2021 to 2027.

The Phase 1 funded “feasibility studies” leading up towards the preparation of Phase 2 proposals for large grants of up to €2.5 million for market preparation and deployment activities. The grant offered to Phase 1 beneficiaries was €50.000.

With the recent September 2019 deadline gone, and all evaluation results now received, Innovayt is able to finally close our books on the Phase 1 instrument, which has been a resounding success for our clients. Since the inception of the SME Instrument in 2014, Innovayt has secured Phase 1 funding for more than 110 projects, with a success rate as high as 74% for all proposals fully prepared by Innovayt consultants.
