Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe is the overall EU Research and Innovation Framework Programme running from 2021 to 2027 with an ambitious budget of 85 billion Euro.

Horizon Europe is the largest European Union research and innovation framework programme ever. One of the main novelties compared to previous frameworks is that it is designed with an investment mind-set rather than as a funding instrument, and with a mission-driven approach linked to key societal challenges and relevant to a broad range of stakeholders and citizens.

Commercial opportunities: Horizon Europe holds a large number of funding programmes. In general, the Horizon Europe approach is to tackle societal challenges by helping to bridge the gap between research and the market by, for example, helping innovative enterprise to develop their technological breakthroughs into viable products with real commercial potential.

For companies, the most attractive points into Horizon Europe are the following three:

The EIC Accelerator and EIC Pathfinder: Horizon Europe includes very attractive funding instruments targeted at Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) holding innovative, scalable, and risky ideas with high market potential. Read more about the EIC Accelerator and the EIC Pathfinder.

Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions: Horizon Europe funds the training, mobility and recruitment of individual researchers in companies as well as in Academia. Read more about Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions.

Collaborative Projects: Horizon Europe funds direct collaboration between companies and research institutions within a multitude of specific themes. Read more on Collaborative Projects.
