Hydract ApS in a spin-out from Danish SME KM Rustfri A/S, which for a generation has been a leader in the field of stainless steel fittings and deep drawn parts for processing facilities, particularly in the food and beverage industry. In the last 10 years, KM Rustfri moved to the forefront of innovation and added a distinct R&D profile through the development of the Hydract© technology, revolving around a water hydraulics based actuator and valve with regulatory ability.
Together with a coalition of European companies, Hydract ApS has created a new and revolutionary production paradigm concept for the brewing industry. The brewing industry is a strong pillar of the European economy with more than 2.3 million jobs directly or indirectly created by this industry. In an increasingly competitive industry and with increasingly demanding customers, breweries are in need of solutions that will significantly increase productivity, decrease costs, and adapt quickly to ever-changing market demands.
The solution, FlexSupply, enables the integration of High Gravity brewing, Just-In-Time production and inline mixing of beers, which means significant increases in productivity and decreasing costs for the end-user. The HYDRACTFLEX project, funded by the Horizon 2020 Fast Track to Innovation programme, is aimed at maturing and proving full functionality and benefits of the integration of the three core technologies of FlexSupply in the context of a full-scale demonstration at Carlsberg’s brewery in Fredericia, Denmark. Innovayt supported Hydract ApS through the application process of the Fast Track to Innovation programme, enabling the company to advance their idea to market readiness in a significantly reduced timeframe compared to the standard for product commercialization processes. Innovayt was able to help Hydract secure 1.85 million Euros for the HYDRACTFLEX demonstration.
